Introduction
The quality laboratory examination seriously affects the quality of medical care. One of the main missions of department of clinical pathology is to provide accurate and timely laboratory report, which is also the quality policy of our department. In order to ensure the performance of our laboratory, we attend many domestic, official, and international surveys as comprehensive as possible, and all have excellent appraisal. Besides, the laboratory earned the ISO 15189 certification in 2006.

Faculty
At time of writing, the department comprise of one senior clinical pathologist, 54 medical technologists, and two servants.

Core competence
Good mycobacterial laboratory service is one of the perquisites to contain the management of mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, one of the most important healthy threatening in Taiwan. To comply with the aim of our hospital, we have established a comprehensive mycobacterial laboratory to provide testing of smear microscopy, solid media and liquid broth culture, and antibiotic sensitivity, and the most updated rapid molecular diagnostic platform. In addition, the laboratory is the NGSP (National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program) certified Level I laboratory for testing of hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) in 2007, and became the reference laboratory for domestic proficiency survey of HbA1c in Taiwan in 2008..

Facilities
The department has a central laboratory, outpatient laboratory, and emergency laboratory to provide service to a variety of medical disciplines, and all of the laboratories were equipped with state-of-the-art devices and laboratory information system.
