The FEMH Nephrology Division offers a wide range of high-quality services to the patient with renal disease, through both the in-patient and out-patient subjects. Our mission is to offer a patient-oriented and high-quality care to the patient with all-field renal disease. We especially emphasize preventative care, and scientific collaboration between basic and clinical science in the fields of Nephrology.
In-patient Services
Consultative Nephrology
The Renal Division provides comprehensive in-patient consultations at the Far Eastern Memorial Hospital. Consultations range from acid-base, water and electrolyte abnormalities, acute or chronic renal failure to any renal replacement therapy.
Dialysis Services
We provide all the services required for the management of the patients with needs of renal replacement therapy. Specialized services include hemodialysis, hemoperfusion, hemofiltration, plasma exchange, continuous veno-venous hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and insertion of temporary vascular access. Besides, we have vascular and transplant surgeons, nursing, social workers and nutrition teams who assist us to provide the long-term care of the patient with ESRD.
Renal Transplant Service
The Renal Transplantation Service at FEMH is a major national transplant center. A multidisciplinary team of transplant specialists provide high-quality of surgical, medical and psychological care, and immunosuppression and infectious complications.
Out-patient Services
General Nephrology Clinic
We provides services in General Nephrology including diabetes, hypertension, water and electrolyte disorders, kidney disease in pregnancy, urinary tract infections, and primary and secondary diseases of the kidney.
Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic
We focus on the attenuation of progression of renal disease via aggressive control of blood pressure, proteinuria, diabetes, lipid disorders, and the comprehensive diet consultation. We join the nephrologists, experienced renal nurses, dieticians, and social workers to provide education about chronic kidney disease and its management and individualized plans of further care to patients with chronic kidney disease.
Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis
The Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis program is a chronic out-patient service for home peritoneal dialysis patients. This service is staffed by FEMH nephrologists, renal nurses and dieticians.
Renal Transplant Clinics
We provide the services of evaluation and selection of potential candidates and donors, post operative care, immunosuppressive management, and psychological and social support. |
