Hospitalization Services

A. Acute Ward

Our acute ward is a closed ward unit with a clean, well-lighted environment which can accommodate 28 beds. The ward consists of 2 separate sleeping quarters for male and female patients (with 4 patients to a room; all beds are covered
by the national health insurance program), nurses station, a central activity area (where patient can enjoy the leisure amenities provided like: read the daily newspaper, watch T.V., sing karaoke, play billiard, or just try their socializing skills by talking with others or with one of our friendly staff), occupational therapy room, talking/psychotherapy room, de-stressing room, laundry room, and separate toilets and washroom for male and female patients.

Admission to our acute ward is made through either a psychiatric evaluation at the outpatient department or through our emergency room services. If a patient needs to be admitted and yet the ward is fully occupied, patient would be put on a waiting list on a 1st-come-1st serve basis. Once the slot is available, the patient on top of the list will be notified. However, if the patient’s condition is severe enough to require immediate hospitalization, our staff sill assists the patient and family/caregiver in inquiring for hospital bed vacancies in other psychiatric unit within the Taipei district.
Hospitalization fee: For patients who are under the coverage of the Bureau of National Health Insurance (BNHI), 90% of the hospital bill will be shouldered by the BNHI, while the remaining 10%, meal expenses, and other possible items which may not be covered by the BNHI will be paid for by the patient (or family). Certain conditions which are entirely not covered by the BNHI (hospital bill shouldered in entirety by the patient/caregiver) are: substance abuse detoxification program, inpatient care for judicial evaluation, etc.

B. Emergency Care Services

This caters to patients with acute psychiatric symptoms which necessitate immediate attention. These may include threatening, agitated or even harmful behavior to self or others. If the patient fulfills the above condition and have not the insight to seek medical/psychiatric attention voluntarily, we would recommend that you contact your local municipal health nurse and ask for assistance. The municipal health nurse will then coordinate with the emergency medical technician (EMT) officer. They will go to your place of residence to evaluate and bring the patient to the hospital for further evaluation and management.

Aside from performing psychiatric evaluation, emergency management and screening for patients who requires inpatient care, our emergency care services also serves as a liaison which integrates the services offered by the different specialties, including general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, women’s health, and social services. The hospital also offers modern technology, which is one of the most advanced in the country, and full access to a common electronic patient file for ongoing evaluation of client condition and possible outcome.
