Organ transplantation is one of the major core competencies at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital. Our former president, professor Shu-Hsun Chu, who performed the first heart transplantation in Taiwan in 1987, became the director of FEMH in 1999. He has led us to develop core competencies involving heart, kidney, liver, cornea, and small intestine transplantation at FEMH.
