Minimally Invasive Surgery

Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) has been the latest innovation in almost all the fields of surgery. With the assistance of video systems, the surgeons can operate on patients through a small incision on the chest or abdomen. Specialized instruments are used for tissue dissection and manipulation. The organ or tissue removal is retrieved through the small abdominal incision; therefore, the risk of complications has been reduced dramatically. Surgeons from almost all fields have advocated such a principle and many traditional surgical procedures have been transformed into the MIS version.

The General Surgery Division at Far Eastern Memorial Hospital has focused extensively on the development of minimally invasive surgery, surgery of the digestive tract cancers and organ transplantation. We possess advanced endosurgery equipment and have many experts in the field of minimally invasive surgery. At present, we can perform laparoscopic surgery in gastrectomy, cholecystectomy, biliary duct exploration, hepatectomy, appendectomy, colon and rectal surgery, herniorrhaphy and even pancreaticoduodenectomy.

Each year, we perform more than 5,000 surgical procedures which include 1400 cases of minimally invasive surgery. These experiences have allowed us to become a high-level and qualified minimally invasive surgery center in Taiwan.

Why Choosing FEMH?

Minimally invasive surgery has been an important core competence at FEMH. Through continual renewal of surgical instruments and equipment, not only the case numbers but also the spectrum of MIS procedures have increased dramatically.
